Last night I went to go see the world famous Broadway musical, RENT, now playing in Portland on its farewell tour. Wow. What an amazing piece of art! The performances were top-notch to say the least and the show was amazing. I had watched the movies several times before and also listened to the soundtrack multiple times but there is just something special about actually going to a live performance that really blows you away.
The crowd was very appreciative of the fine performances and the show ended with a resounding, and well deserved standing ovation. My personal favorites were Mimi, performed by Lexi Lawson, and of course, Angel, performed by Justin Johnston. It was great hearing and seeing all the little parts that the movie left out for the sake of brevity. Anyway… great show and if you get the chance to see it during the farwell tour, I heartily recommend it! It will really get you thinking about what you’ve done with your life so far and how you spend each of those 525,600 minutes each year!
